The National Association of
Pension Funds (NAPF) is launching a new service in the West Midlands designed to help people prepare for their retirement.
PensionsForce is a free service that aims to provide consumers with independent
pension advice. It is hoped that this will allow them to make more informed
pensions choices, show people where they can find more information to
compare pensions and highlight various risks.
Commenting on the initiative, Joanne Segars, policy director for NAPF, said: "PensionsForce makes it easy for employers to help their employees plan for their retirement.
"The service will be delivered in the workplace by specially appointed expert pensions guides and will provide the tools for people to make informed decisions about what is best for them."
The initiative aims to combat the fact that almost 750,000 people in the region are at risk of poverty in retirement due to insufficient pension funding.
Ms Segars states that "clear communication is vital to help people understand the importance of saving for old age" and that many people do not understand pensions and do not know where to look for pensions help and assistance.
NAPF was originally formed in 1923 and states that it is the leading body in the UK representing people with pensions funds and is a "leading voice of retirement provision".
