The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has launched a scheme in a bid to raise public awareness over pensions.
Save More Now aims to help prepare
UK residents for obtaining a comfortable income upon reaching retirement.
The plan will urge people to consider saving early for their
pension, rather than waiting for the government's reforms.
In an article for July’s
Pensions Age magazine, Chris Kenny, the Association of British Insurers' director of life and pensions, writes: "We want to build a coalition of influential organisations and individuals, including politicians, pensions experts, consumer groups, employers' organisations and financial services bodies to press home the Save More Now message.
He adds that it would be "tragic" if growing interest in future pension reforms led to a decline in saving for pensions today and Brits need to "forge a genuine and lasting consensus" on the need to save earlier for reaching retirement.
The Association of British Insurers has also produced a short film to help educate consumers about the role the insurance industry plays in the provision of pensions.
