Pension holders head to Southend-on-Sea

Thu, 30 Mar 2006

Southend-on-Sea has been revealed to be the best location for pension fund holders to enjoy their retirement.

With its low violent crime rate, its world famous long pier, low council tax and pedestrianised centre, the town topped a poll compiled by Yours magazine.

The second most popular place for pensioners to enjoy their pension funds is Poole in Dorset due to its harbour and the fact that it's the quickest place to get a hip operation.

Hip surgery is also fairly rapid in the town of Whitehaven in Cumbria, which came in at third place as preferred location for pensioners living off their retirement pensions.

Pension holders would also like to retire to Swansea, Clacton-on-Sea, Stirling, Leamington Spa, Skegness, Weymouth and Southport, all of which made it into the magazine's top ten.
