Pensions specialists are to be offered one more chance to get up to speed with the implications of the A-Day
pension reforms, it has been announced.
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has confirmed it will be running a final
pensions simplification update programme exam session on July 16th 2007 to help pensions advisors understand the changes brought in on April 6th 2006.
The exam sessions will take place in London, Brighton, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh.
Bob Bullivant, deputy director general of the institute, explained that strong demand had prompted the introduction of one final pension exam.
"The number of people completing the programme is testament to the desire of the industry to take a formal assessment in order to demonstrate that they have topped up their knowledge of the new [pensions] regime," he said.
One aspect of the A-Day reforms was that it became possible for workers to contribute to both
company pensions and personal pensions.
Prior to last April, people who earned more than £30,000 per year were prevented from putting money in both types of pension at the same time.
