Dodgy pensions advice from advisers

Mon, 29 Oct 2007

According to a recent study, numerous consumers in the UK have been given faulty advice about their state pension contributions. The problem is apparently concerned with advice offered by government workers. The government have confirmed that bad pension advice has been given, and action is being taken to redress the balance.

According to the report, the poor advice was given to women paying backdated National Insurance contributions. Apparently, the rules relating to this issue, highlighted in the pensions news earlier this month, are complex. The Department of Work and Pensions have struggled to deal with responses to the breaking news.

The government minister responsible, Mr. O’Brien, made it clear that new training and procedures were in place to make pension advice more correct. However, the issue remains complex.
