NHS pension strike

Wed, 02 Apr 2008

Hundreds of members of the PCS (Public and Commercial Services Union ) will go on a one day strike today. The strikers are employees of the NHS pensions division, and are protesting over below inflation pay which affects many staff.

Some 5,500 PCS members working for the land registry will also walk out for one hour, this over a separate pay issue. Tensions are reported to be mounting over civil and public services sectors, with below inflation pay offers angering employees.

Another strike halted the Department for Work and Pensions or two days earlier this year. PCS represents civil and public servants in central governments.
