Pension investors looking to diversify their income might want to consider investing in budget hotel rooms.
According to Assetz Development, which has launched a joint venture with a hotel contractor, the budget inn market is booming and pension investors can profit from it.
The firm's scheme will see it construct a chain of budget-boutique hotels, with the rooms being available for direct purchase by pension investors.
No personal use will be permitted and the rooms will be classed as commercial property and as a permitted Self Invested Personal Pension holding.
Stuart Law, chief executive of the firm, said: "We are offering independent financial advisers and their clients access to an asset class which is actually benefiting from the downturn, providing the ideal opportunity for pension investors to boost their retirement income."
Recently, the government announced that the state pension is set to increase by five per cent from April 2009.
