Pension change should come earlier, MP says

Fri, 18 Jan 2008

The MP for Bolton has made a clear claim that the link between earnings and pension saving needs to be addressed now. The MP calls for the date of the pension reforms planned for 2012 to be addressed as soon as possible.

The news closely follows the hundred-year anniversary of the state pension . The MP for Bolton north-east, David Crausby, has offered his support to an early motion in the House of Commons which is calling for change.

David Crausby was reported in the news as commenting: "I am urging the government to consider restoring the link between pensions and earnings earlier than announced in order to help pensioners, particularly those entirely dependent on the basic state pension."
