Crisis for pension plans

Fri, 09 May 2008

The Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society has released a State of Retirement Report that indicates the state of crisis for pension plans in the UK. Significant percentages of people are not saving adequately for retirement.

With the cost of fuel, food, and energy soaring, living is simply more expensive than many people had bargained for. Some 25% of people are apparently saving nothing for retirement, with a little under 50% not increasing their saving to pay for that they will need.

Pension schemes, whether they are private schemes or a company pension scheme, are one way to save for retirement . Unfortunately, many employers are dropping their pension schemes, but pensions remain a good way to save for retirement.
