Co-operative
The Co-operative Group includes the Co-operative Banking Group,
the Co-operative Insurance Society and the Co-operative Investments
which offers products including unit trusts, investment bonds and
pensions.
The group grew out of an insurance service for Co-operative
members in the 1800s. The banking arm expanded throughout the 20th
Century until it was registered as the Co-operative Bank Ltd in
1971. In 2009, it merged with Britannia and now has over four
million customer accounts in the UK.
Through the investments arm it is responsible for investing over
£20 billion of its customers' money, and it also has a network of
qualified financial advisers who can offer financial planning
advice.
