Enhanced
Enhanced annuities and impaired life annuities pay a higher
than normal income. Some companies offer them if you have a health problem or a
lifestyle that could give you a shorter life expectancy.
An impaired life annuity will pay out a higher income if you
have particular health problems such as high blood pressure or cancer.
An enhanced annuity, however, will pay a higher annuity rate
if you have a particular lifestyle – for example, if you are a smoker or obese.
Annuity providers are more willing to offer you a higher
rate if you're less likely to live for several more years.
If you're considering an enhanced annuity, you should talk
to a financial adviser first as they will be able to help assess your health
and lifestyle to see whether or not you will be eligible. You can talk to one
of our advisers by filling in an enquiry form.
